Every child who has gained confidence and found independence is a success story.  However some of our students have gone further and are making their mark in the country.

 


Nyasha Mharakurwa, ranking high in world wheelchair tennis

Edmore Masendeke

Completed a business management degree at University of Zimbabwe and is now working for the Reserve Bank.  He has also started a foundation to assist disabled students and has also found time to write and publish 2 poetry books.

Farai Mabhande

Self taught sound & video technician.  Films & records for all KGVI productions including several youtube entries.

Mkhumi Valela

Despite his very severe speech impediment and uncoordinated movements he is studying Sociology through a distance education programme with the University of South Africa.  He also writes poetry.

Nyasha Mharakurwa

Completed a business management degree and is now studying sports in South Africa.  He is also a top seeded wheelchair tennis player as well as starting a foundation to help disabled youngsters.

Precious Ncube

Her severe disability has not prevented her from running her own house, bringing up her nieces and nephews and keeping KGVI supplied with food.

Prudence Mabhena

Vocalist, song writer, star of Music by Prudence, UNICEF Zimbabwe Goodwill Ambassador

Samantha Nyereyemhuka

Never one for the public eye she has been running our national sign language dictionary project, motivating and advocating in the background.

Sindile Mhlanga

Won a scholarship to Rochester College in USA and now teaches at KGVI.  He is also a deaf rights advocate

Soneni Gwizi

Runs her own radio show on ZBC dealing with disability issues
